Inhibition of BRD4 as a radiosensitization strategy for the treatment of cervical cancer

Despite the availability of HPV vaccine, cervical cancer remains a significant health issue, particularly in developing countries, where it ranks as the fourth most common cancer in women globally. Conventional treatments provide limited survival benefits. BRD4 has emerged as a promising target to improve prognosis due to its roles in cell proliferation, DNA damage response, and epigenetics, as well as regulating genes linked to cancer aggressiveness. This study evaluated whether targeting BRD4 could enhance radiotherapy efficacy using three inhibitors (MZI, JQ1, and AZD5153) on organoid cultures of cervical cancer cell lines.
